ATLETICO MADRID will turn their attentions to Chelsea stopper Thibaut Courtois if Jan Oblak leaves, according to reports in Spain.
The Slovenian is a target for Paris Saint-Germain, while various Premier League clubs have lined him up as an alternative should they lose their current No 1s.
Courtois spent three seasons on loan at Atletico from Chelsea — winning the La Liga title in 2014 — before returning to Stamford Bridge and ousting Petr Cech from the first team.
And AS report that, should the Rojiblancos lose Oblak, their former goalkeeper would be their first choice replacement.
Atletico expect to retain their No 1, given his current buy-out clause stands at £89million.
But, last summer’s transfer market showed big teams are willing to pay whatever is required to land their top targets.
Atletico are keen to review Oblak’s status at the club and make him their highest-paid player as well as double his clause.
But that may prove problematic — and for this reason, they are looking at alternatives.
Courtois was tipped to leave Chelsea last summer, with Real Madrid a possible destination.
Los Blancos had identified — along with David de Gea — as potential replacements for the haphazard Keylor Navas.
However, the Costa Rican’s form improved dramatically, and they decided not to pursue another goalkeeper.
Ironically, should Chelsea lose Courtois, Oblak is among the names tipped to come in as a replacement.
While it is the same at Manchester United, should De Gea leave.
