Roll out the red carpet — El Nino is back in town.
Fernando Torres has supposedly revealed that he is keen on a return to the Premier League.
The Mirror claims the former Liverpool forward is seeking a loan move away from Atletico Madrid in the new year.
Torres has been limited to two just appearances this season.
The arrival of Diego Costa from Chelsea in January will only shunt him further down Diego Simeone’s pecking order.
The 2010 World Cup winner is already concerned about his lack of game time and is aware the situation will only worsen when the ex-Chelsea forward is eligible to play.
The report suggests Torres’ representatives are eyeing up a temporary switch to either Newcastle or Southampton.
A move to St James’ Park would see the 33-year-old reunite with Rafa Benitez, who signed El Nino for Liverpool in 2007.
Torres is considering retiring at the end of his current deal, which ends in 18 months’ time, and wants to play as much as possible until then.
We’d love to see him back, if just for the glorious nostalgia.
