The spirit of Sir Alex Ferguson’s hairdryer treatment lives on at Man United…
Romelu Lukaku ripped into his Man United team-mates after their demoralising defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgium forward was fuming after his return to his old club proved fruitless yet again, according to a dressing-room source.
The 24-year-old has been frustrated with a lack of service during a seven-match goal drought in the last month for United.
And Jose Mourinho’s men ended up losing their second Premier League match after poor defending allowed Alvaro Morata to score the winner last Sunday.
Lukaku was said to be one of the most vocal in the post-match inquest among the squad in the aftermath of the defeat.
He was making his first return to his old club since joining United in a £75million deal after it looked like he would re-join Chelsea from Everton.
Lukaku was relatively anonymous at Stamford Bridge, failing to register a touch in Chelsea’s box.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s dip in form and Paul Pogba’s absence has meant United’s target man has been somewhat distanced from his midfielders.
And if Sun Sport’s source is to be believed, he has reached the end of his tether and is demanding improvement from United’s playmakers.
Lukaku was on the scoresheet for Belgium on Friday with a double against Mexico in a friendly, making him his country’s joint-highest scorer.
He said: “At a young age I’ve achieved something great like this which is really good but there is a lot of work to be done and I’m relishing the challenge.”
Lukaku’s early season form means that, despite his recent drought, only Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero have scored more than his seven goals in the league this season.
Though United fans will be hoping he breaks his current hoodoo sooner rather than later.
