Luis Suarez believes Philippe Coutinho’s has the “ambition” to play for Barcelona.
This summer Coutinho was the subject of intense transfer speculation that he was heading to the Nou Camp, but a move failed to materialise.
The Brazilian international handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move – but this was rejected out of hand by Liverpool.
But it seems likely Barca could move for the 25-year-old again in January, and former Liverpool striker Suarez believes Coutinho would be a valuable addition to the Catalans’ squad.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Suarez said: “Obviously he must have because he’s a player who has ambition and any player would want to come to Barca.
“He went through a difficult and very complicated moment but as a professional he continued to show how good a player he is.”

Liverpool signed Coutinho back in 2013, and he played for one season with Suarez before the latter was sold to Barcelona.
However the two have remained friends since. On leaving Anfield Suarez even told Steven Gerrard to “look after Coutinho”.
And while acknowledging his personal friendship with Coutinho, Suarez is adamant the Liverpool man would bring “a lot” to Barca if he joined.
He added: “I know him as a person and as a player because I played with him, but what Coutinho can contribute everyone knows.
“He is a footballer, who today, plays at a very high level.”
Coutinho is currently an injury doubt for club and country after he picked up an abductor injury ten days ago.
But Brazil’s doctor says that he will be back working with a ball on Wednesday and could be fit to face England next Tuesday at Wembley.
