It was not a good weekend for Manchester United.
Their 1-0 defeat at Chelsea on Sunday, combined with City’s victory over Arsenal, means Jose Mourinho’s side are now eight points behind their noisy neighbours in the Premier League table.
And as you’d expect, Mourinho’s stubbornly defensive tactics at Stamford Bridge were widely criticised after the game – and rightly so.
To put it plainly; United never looked like winning.

The result and performance follows a regular theme of Mourinho’s when he’s up against one of the bigger teams in the Premier League, which often sees his side set-up to play a negative, dull, backwards-style of football.
Furthermore, Mourinho is renowned for using Belgium bruiser Marouane Fellaini in such matches, using his elbow-happy strength and size to justify lumping the ball up the pitch.
As you’d expect, this has started to irk some of United’s supporters.
One fan in particular summed it all up yesterday with a hilarious rant on BBC Radio Five Live’s call-in show 606, describing the club as “just a rich West Brom”.
The fan called up the show hosted by Kelly Cates and Ian Wright, and said: “Mourinho has played 10 times against the top six: Five 0-0 draws, six defeats.
“And you know what we are at the end of the day, Kelly and Ian? We’re just a rich West Brom.
“That’s all we are. We’re playing boring, horrific football.”
“We are a rich West Brom. When we are struggling, we bring on a tree in Fellaini and lump it forwards and hope for the best. We’re not going anywhere.
“Where are we going with this team? We’re paying thousands of pounds to watch our team and we’re passing it backwards.
“We know what’s going to happen, it’s going to be 0-0 after 20 minutes.”
Crikey.

You know what, he’s got a point.
