Mats Hummels played a vital role in that Bayern win, keeping his former side at bay until Marc Bartra’s late consolation goal.
And eagle eyed fans were quick to spot something unusual about Hummels – and specifically his boots.
The German centre-back had some pretty heft holes at the end of his orange boots, but why?
Well he enlightened us with the reason afterwards.
Hummels told Sky Germany: “I can not put a lot of pressure on the big toes because they’re both blue, they’re just a bit broken at the moment, so I hope it will regenerate next week.”
Nasty stuff.
Imagine how good Hummels would be if he was pain free?
