Youssouf Koita won’t want to see this again.
Koita started in goal for Mali against Brazil in the Under-17 World Cup third place play-off match.
But his big game turned into a bit of a nightmare in the 55th minute when he allowed Real Madrid target Alanzinho to score.
It all started with an air kick, as most bad goals do.
Mamadou Samake tried to clear the ball but only got air, allowing Alanzinho through on goal.
But with defenders closing in on each side Brazil’s no.10 rushed and took his shot early, sending a pee roller toward’s Mali’s goal.
The ball dribbled towards Koita, who put his hands out in preparation for a routine collection.
Koita somehow managed to put the ball into the back of his own net, much to the despair of his team-mates.
You’ve got to feel for the lad.
Yuri Alberto then made it 2-0 to Brazil to clinch third place ahead of the final between England and Spain.
The good news is that at 17 Koita has plenty of time to make up for his error.
But that’s probably not going to help in the immediate aftermath.
