Reiss Nelson is the latest in a very long line of youngsters to impress for Arsenal.
In Arsene Wenger’s time at the club they’ve seen the likes of Hector Bellerin, Alex Iwobi and Kieran Gibbs come through the ranks, but Nelson has been the one to get everyone excited in the last six months.
So it should come of little surprise to hear the first team stars bigging up the 17-year-old, with Alexis Sanchez the latest to heap praise on the young forward.
Sanchez said it is up to him whether or not he reaches the top of the game, but also sent a warning to the starlet as well.
He said: “Reiss has real talent, but he still has a lot to learn from other players.
“From playing more matches and getting more experience. That’s exactly what the boss is providing for him, so that he can carry on improving as a player.
“He must train every day and get better every day. It’s all down to him whether or not he wants to end up at the very top of the sport.”
High praise indeed from the Chilean, but Nelson would do well to heed his fellow forward’s advice.
Keep your head down, keep working hard, and one day he could follow in Alexis’ footsteps.
