LUKA MODRIC insists that Tottenham can win the Premier League this season under the management of Mauricio Pochettino.
The ex-Spurs midfielder believes that the club has improved majorly since left to join Real Madrid in 2012.
When asked by talkSPORT if Spurs could win the title under Pochettino, Modric said: “I think so. If they continue in this way why not?
“The Premier League is a strong league with so many great teams – a lot of great games – and it’s not easy.
“But they are there and I wish them all the best. I would like to see them win the title.
“He [Pochettino] is doing an amazing job at Tottenham.”
Modric, who was named in the FIFPRO World XI for the third consecutive year on Monday, played for the north London outfit between 2008 and 2012.
After guiding Spurs to fourth in the Premier League, he completed a £30million mega-move to join Madrid.
He added: “Tottenham, since I left, is improving as a club in all aspects – on the pitch, outside they have a new training ground, a new stadium is coming.
“They are investing a lot.
“Two years in a row they are close to winning the title in the Premier League, which in the past was not the case.
“I am happy to see Tottenham improving and fighting for the Premier League title.”
Pochettino’s side are currently third in the Premier League table – just five points behind high-flying Manchester City.
