Real Madrid are in full Football Manager mode.
After signing 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Vinicius Junior for £38million Madrid are now lining up a move for one of his team-mates.
Palmeiras midfielder Alan, who Globo are linking with a move to Madrid, has been driving Brazil’s Under-17 World Cup efforts in Vinicius’ absence.
He’s got everything a Brazilian wonderkid should have.
A nickname? Tick. Alan is also known as Alanzinho, which roughly translates as ‘Little Alan’.
A ‘next’ tag? Tick. Alan is being hyped up as the ‘next Coutinho’ in the Brazilian media due to his playing style and diminutive stature.
And he’s already rejected the big boys when he decided to join Palmeiras from Sao Paulo rather than move to Inter Milan in 2013.
The 17-year-old is proving a big hit in India where he’s helped Brazil to the semi-final of the Under-17 World Cup.
Although he’s yet to score Alanzinho has been the creative hub to everything good about Brazil during the tournament.
Alanzinho’s contract reportedly contains a €50mil buyout clause, but that’s unlikely to put Madrid off if they are serious about securing the midfielder.
He’d probably follow countryman Casemiro’s route by linking up with Madrid’s B side before graduating to the senior squad.
Remember the name. You’ll be hearing about his failure to live up to the hype in a few years.
(Sorry, that’s slightly harsh, but it’s Monday.)
