The Gunners have long been linked with Benzema, but his new contract and Arsenal’s club record-breaking signing of Alexandre Lacazette for £53m seemingly halted the speculation before his agent put an end to them for good.

The striker moved from his boyhood club Lyon to Real Madrid in 2009 and has scored 182 goals in 373 appearances helping the La Liga giants to two league titles and three Champions League crowns.

Although his season at Real Madrid has had a slow start this term making just five appearances in all competitions, scoring once.

He was also slated on social media after his header was saved at an almost impossible range when Real Madrid met Tottenham in the Champions League.
