Usually celebrating a goal prematurely is the sign of arrogance and fans aren’t particularly keen on it.
Just ask Ross Barkley, who did it last season.
But there was something endearing about seeing Manchester City winger Leroy Sane start to wheel away as he witnessed Kevin De Bruyne deliver yet another inch-perfect pass.
City’s Belgian talisman was on fine form again in their Champions League victory over Napoli on Tuesday night, but team-mate Sane clearly knew that a KDB pass basically equates to a goal.
You can just peep Sane’s slightly premature celebration in the video below:
Kevin De Bruyne sets himself for a ball into the box…
You can Sane in the top of the image as the ball splits the Napoli defence…
But with the ball still two yards away from Gabriel Jesus receiving it, Sane starts to celebrate the future goal.
Meaning that by the time Jesus connects, the German is already wheeling away like a champion.
To be fair, given how well Manchester City are currently playing, we’ll let them off this one – it goes to show just how confident they are in each other’s abilities that they can rely on De Bruyne’s quality and Jesus’ finishing that players don’t even have to think about follow-ups and rebounds.
What a nice position to be in, eh?
