You know it’s serious when someone posts just a black screen on Instagram.
Whether it’s a mate who’s broken up with his partner, or a family member who is crippingly hungover, the black screen always rings alarm bells.
Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda is the latest to employ this tactic on Instagram, by posting a cryptic message that appears to aim a massive barb at his own club.
Posting on the social media site on Monday night, the 20-year-old posted this:
He wrote: “You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what’s expected, and often more than you can, because you love what you do and clearly more than you should.
“And what do you get back?
“Literally nothing,… done.
“However, with this being said I will continue with same dedication and commitment to this great game.”
Interesting, very interesting.
But the plot thickens when you realise Musonda’s brother replied to the post, also piling in on the Premier League champions.
He wrote: “It’s starting to look like they wouldn’t know what they have it they had Ronaldo or Messi coming out of the academy. Smh”
Musonda is a highly rated midfielder, but has struggled for game time with the Blues this season, playing just one minute in the Premier League.
He played the full game and scored against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup in September, but it looks like his frustration might be getting the better of him during the international break.
But is having a dig on social media the best way to go about things for a young Chelsea midfielder?
Perhaps it would be wise for Musonda to speak to his team-mate Kenedy to see where it gets him.
