He told BeIN Sports after Barca’s 1-0 Champions League win at Sporting Lisbon:
“I think the good news is coming soon.”
It seems and agreement could be reached within the next few weeks.
This latest update comes after Iniesta spoke on Spanish radio station Onda Cero in May and hinted he could leave the Nou Camp after more than two decades:
“I need to make an honest decision and one that is best for everyone.”
But the situation has obviously changed with regard to Iniesta, who was thought to be on the Juventus radar.
Iniesta, who has lit up Spain’s top flight for more than 15 years, was delighted with the victory in Portugal.
He said: “It’s Champions. The matches away from home are always difficult and [this] has been one more sample.
“I think they have great players, from the middle up they attack well, they combine well.
“We have tried to counter it in the best way and we have done it to a great extent. There are all kinds of phases in the game and also have to know how to do it. ”
