People say Chelsea have no history but that’s simply not true.
They have a long and noble history of having a man sent off when playing against Arsenal.
Victor Moses saw red in last season’s FA Cup final, Pedro was dismissed in the most recent Community Shield, and now David Luiz has honoured the tradition in the Premier League.
The Brazilian defender was sent off with just minutes remaining of Chelsea’s nil-nil draw with the Gunners at Stamford Bridge for a lunge on Sead Kolasinac.
Luiz lost control of the ball when dribbling down the line and launched into a high, studs-first challenge on the Arsenal left-back.
It’s a good job the Bosnian international is made of pure steel otherwise he could have been seriously hurt.
Antonio Conte can not have too many complaints about the decision though he may ask questions of his squad.
The Blues have had three players sent off already this season.
Arsenal showed plenty of character and discipline and Arsene Wenger should be commended for an effective game plan.
We can’t wait to see who will be sent off for Chelsea in the reverse fixture.
