LIVERPOOL’S ongoing defensive woes could be solved by Stefan de Vrij.
The Reds are reported to be lining up a January bid for the Lazio centre-back.
Liverpool have already conceded eight Premier League goals in just four games.
And they let in two more against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday when Dejan Lovren was badly at fault.
Italian news outlet Calciomercato say that a move for Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk is looking increasingly unlikely.
So the Reds will swoop for 25-year-old De Vrij instead.
The Dutchman has been one of the star performers for Lazio since signing on in 2014 off the back of a good World Cup.
Louis van Gaal was a big fan of de Vrij during his spell as Netherlands manager and relied heavily on him during a march to the semi-finals in Brazil.
Liverpool looked at signing him in the summer and, after a shaky start to the season at the back, they are ready to return.
Their defensive issues under Klopp have by no means been settled and it finally looks like the Reds are set to do something about them.
Especially after another sloppy performance against Sevilla which certainly put Lovren’s long-term future in doubt.
