Pep Guardiola doesn’t praise players for the sake of it.
He’s also worked with Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Arjen Robben.
So what the Spaniard said about Kevin De Bruyne following City’s 4-0 win against Feyenoord in the Champions League was pretty special.
Pep lauded De Bruyne’s performance, saying: “Kevin is one of the best players I’ve ever seen in my life.
“We are so proud and so happy he is with us.”
Not bad, not bad at all.
De Bruyne was in fine form, assisting John Stones’ second goal with a lovely cross.
The Belgian is yet to get off the mark in terms of goals this season but already has three assists to his name in five games.
His lack of goals can be put down to the fact he’s playing deeper in Pep’s system.
But the tactical shift is clearly working, and if it’s good enough for Pep, it’s good enough for us.
