Remind us where the next summer’s World Cup is being held?
Spartak Moscow could be facing disciplinary action after their fans appeared to fire a flare at the referee during their side’s trip to Maribor.
The Russian club were in Slovenia for their Group E opener but their 1-1 draw with NK Maribor was marred by unsavoury scenes before kick-off and in the stands while the game was in progress.
The following video shows a blazing flare narrowly missing the referee after being fired at speed from the away end where the Spartak fans were located…
Needless to say the projectile could have done the official some serious damage had it made contact.
There is already widespread concern about the safety of visiting fans to Russia for next year’s World Cup and this latest incident involving a Russian club will only add fuel to the fire.
Liverpool travel to Moscow for their next Champions League game on the 26th September.
