We’re still trying to work out why Bayer Munich let Toni Kroos join Real Madrid for just €25million in 2014.
Kroos has gone on to establish himself as one of Europe’s best controllers alongside Luka Modric.
But have Bayern found their new Kroos? According to Franck Ribery they have.
Ribery wasn’t shy in praising new signing Sebastian Rudy, who joined from Hoffenheim on a free transfer in the summer.
The Frenchman told Bild: “I always though that he was a good player. Quiet, but not shy.
“He has no fear on the pitch. Rudy is a bit like Toni Kroos, their styles are similar.”
Who are we to tell Ribery he’s wrong?
Rudy who, like Kroos, is 27, graduated through Stuggart’s academy but never got a run in their first team, making just 15 Bundesliga appearances.
But he found his feet at Hoffenheim, where he was eventually named captain, and made his debut for the German national team in 2014.
He’s started one game for Bayern Munich this season, coming off the bench in their second game, against Werder Bremen.
Whatever he’s doing in training and matches is clearly impressing Ribery, who played with Kroos for seven years.
As if Bayern needed any more good players.
