Let’s be honest, PSG’s front three of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani is going to be far too strong for Ligue 1.
The trio started for the first time against Metz and all scored as PSG won 5-1, sending out an ominous message to the rest of the league.
But they were massively helped out by a ludicrous decision by referee Sebastien Desiage that saw former Spurs left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto sent off in the 56th minute.
With the score at 1-1 Assou-Ekotto flew in to halt Mbappe in his tracks.
The perfectly timed tackle floored Mbappe and stopped PSG’s attack, but referee Desiage saw it differently.
He dismissed Assou-Ekotto, much to the surprise of the 33-year-old and his team-mates.
With Assou-Ekotto off the pitch PSG scored four times, including a first PSG goal for Mbappe three minutes after the dismissal.
To be honest we just assumed Assou-Ekotto would be playing for Harry Redknapp at Birmingham City, so it was nice to see him pop up in France.
But, be warned defenders of Ligue 1, try and tackle any of PSG’s magic trio at your peril.
Especially not the future king of french football.
