However, you may be surprised to hear that the four-time Ballon d’Or winner has sold fewer shirts in the UK recently than a man who played his football in the Championship last season.

According to Sports Direct’s statistics, more Newcastle Matt Ritchie shirts were sold in the UK this summer than Real Madrid Ronaldo shirts.

In fact, the St James’ fan favourite was the 13th most popular player in terms of shirt sales.
