Premier League strikers should be very careful when going shoulder to shoulder with new Spurs signing Davinson Sanchez.
The 21-year-old, who moved to Spurs from Ajax for a fee that could reach £42million, started in the heart of Colombia’s defence against Brazil.
Facing the attacking talents of Neymar, Willian and Roberto Firmino would be a daunting task for most defenders, but Sanchez didn’t seem particularly fazed.
One passage of play would have got Spurs fans very excited about Sanchez’s potential.
With nearly three minutes of the second half played Dani Alves tried to get in behind Colombia’s defence, as he has done time and time again in Europe.
But not only did Sanchez have the pace to track his run, he absolutely bulldozed the PSG right-back in a shoulder to shoulder challenge.
We can’t see too many Premier League strikers being overly enthused about the prospect of battling Sanchez after seeing that.
The only thing left to say is RIP Alves’ collarbone.
