In a world where Renato Sanches now plays for Swansea, nothing really shocks us anymore.
So the news that French defender Timothee Kolodziejczak is moving from Borussia Monchengladbach to the bright lights of Mexican side Tigres UANL just makes perfect sense.
After all, the club already has a relatively well-known French player in their ranks in Andre-Pierre Gignac, who joined Tigres from Marseille back in 2015.
Despite plenty of interest from top clubs across Europe (including Liverpool), Gignac opted for the Liga MX side and has not looked back since.
He won the top-goalscorer award in his first season in Mexico and cemented his place as a regular in France’s national team, even playing a role in the side that reached last summer’s Euro 2016 final (he even played in that final, very nearly scoring).
Kolodziejczak – who reportedly has the same agent as Gignac – will be hoping for a similar resurgence after struggling for game time in Germany.
The left wing-back has played for a host of elite clubs in his short career, including Lyon, Nice and La Liga giants Sevilla.
Last season he played only five times with Sevilla from July to December 2017 before moving to Gladbach.
