We all know what the best part of the transfer window is.
Nope, it’s not the reassuring cycle of Arsenal being linked with world-class stars, only to end up signing Ligue 2’s top scorer.
We are, of course, talking about the moment a new signing has to pick a squad number.
We’ve been spoiled rotten this window.
Renato Sanches chose Swansea’s no.85 shirt, only to have his party spoiled by the Premier League who forced him to wear the no.35.
Wilfired Bony committed footballing sin by wearing the no.2 shirt when the no.9 was free at Swansea.
But it’s not only England where there’s fun to be had.
Over in Italy former Man United winger Nani has taken the no.7 shirt after leaving Valencia for Lazio.
Now on the face of it there’s nothing that strange about a winger taking the no.7 shirt.
However those of you who speak Italian will already be in on the joke.
In Italian ‘Nani’ translates as ‘dwarfs’, which means the 30-year-old’s shirt will read ‘7 dwarfs’.
We can’t be sure that he’s done it as a tribute to Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey.
Maybe its the fact that hes only 5ft 9in?
Either way it’s a lovely little present to crown the end of the transfer window.
So thank you Nani. From the bottom of our hearts.
