Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set for Liverpool medical TODAY at St George’s Park

The Arsenal midfielder has rejected a move to Chelsea in favour of joining Jurgen Klopp's Reds

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could reportedly have a medical TODAY ahead of a proposed move to… Liverpool.

The Arsenal winger seemed all set for a switch across London to Chelsea when the Blues had a £35m bid accepted by the Gunners on Monday night.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain has his heart set on a move to Merseyside instead and duly snubbed the Blues offer in the hope Jurgen Klopp’s charges would make an approach.

Well they have and, despite having an opening offer of £30m rejected by Arsenal, the Reds appear to have secured their man – according to Simon Hughes at The Independent.

Hughes believes Oxlade-Chamberlain could even have a medical at St George’s Park on Wednesday while he is reporting there for England duty.

Liverpool appear to be saving the majority of the summer business for the final days of the window, with moves for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk still in the pipeline.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are in disarray after a disastrous 4-0 defeat at Anfield on Sunday appeared to trigger a mass exodus.

As well as Oxlade-Chamberlain the futures of Alexis Sanchez, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez look elsewhere.

Sanchez is still a target for Manchester City and the Citizens are expected to increase their offer to nearly £70m to tempt the Gunners into selling.
