Man City’s latest offer for Alexis Sanchez involves key player heading to Emirates as part of the deal

Arsene Wenger's week could go from bad to worse if he loses his star player to a Premier League rival

Man City smell blood in north London and are ready to pounce.

With Arsenal left stunned and demotivated by a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool, Pep Guardiola is making a serious play for Alexis Sanchez.

The Mirror claim City have offered the Gunners a substantial fee plus Raheem Sterling in exchange for the Chilean superstar.

The offer is a significant upgrade from the one reported yesterday which allegedly included Belgian defender Jason Denayer as part of the deal.

Whereas Denayer has been subjected to a host of loan moves away from the Etihad, Sterling has been revitalised under Guardiola and has featured often under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich gaffer’s reign.

The England winger has arguably been City’s most impactful player this season with late goals in the games against Everton and Bournemouth earning them four points.

Guardiola is so desperate to be reunited with Sanchez (the pair were together at Barcelona) that he is prepared to allow Sterling to join a direct rival, despite his good form and obvious attributes.

Reports suggest that Sanchez has requested a 24-hour break from Chile training to engage in ‘other commitments’.

Arsene Wenger has previously stated his reluctance to sell his prize asset, particularly to a title rival, but with Sanchez prepared to run out his contract, desperate times may call for desperate measures.
