Miguel Britos sent off for one of the worst tackles you’re going to see this season

Watford defender Miguel Britos was sent off for a horrific tackle on Brighton's Anthony Knockaert

There are times when footballers are unfairly criticised.

There are others when they completely deserve it. Case in point: Miguel Britos’ red card for Watford against Birghton this afternoon.

It was one of those you could see coming from a million miles off.

A more deserved red card you’re unlikely to find

Dale Stephens’ pass pitted Britos in a foot race with Anthony Knockaert.

Now Knockaert is one of Brighton’s quicker players and Britos isn’t exactly known for his pace.

The pair reached the ball at the same time although Knockaert was fractionally ahead in the footrace.

With the touchline just yards away the sensible thing to do would have been to jockey Knockaert out of play.

Instead Britos flew in with studs up and both feet off the ground.

‘No foul Miguel’

Did Britos have somewhere to be at half three?

The Uruguayan caught Knockaert half way up his leg and was lucky his foot didn’t plant in the ground.

After several minutes of treatment Knockaert was able to carry on while Watford were forced to play the rest of the game with ten men.

Serious damage was avoided but there’s no place for that type of tackle in the game.

⚽Liverpool v Arsenal betting tip: Liverpool to win, 11/10⚽

LIVERPOOL always save their best for the top six.

In a mini league with Spurs, Arsenal, Man United, Man City and Chelsea, Liverpool picked up the most points last term – double that of Arsenal. This game will suit Jurgen Klopp and 11/10 for a home win is far too good to resist.
