It’s not easy being an Arsenal fan.
After years of unprecedented success in Arsene Wenger’s first decade at the club, the second decade has rather fallen apart in comparison.
The Gunners have become the meme that keeps on giving in the footballing world with their decline coinciding with their move to the Emirates in 2006.
And Twitter account @VieriaPaddy has rather beautifully compiled a hilarious list of scarcely believable incidents that have happened to Arsenal in the last 11 years or so.
Sit back and enjoy…
1 2006 – Arsenal lose 1-0 at Sheffield United despite Phil Jagielka playing in goal for the last half hour
2 2008 – Emmanuel Eboue comes on for Samir Nasri, only to be substituted himself after repeatedly giving the ball away and tackling his own player. Cries as he leaves the pitch
3 2009 – Arsene Wenger is sent to the stands against Old Trafford, Gordon Strachan sums up debacle brilliantly on Match of the Day
4 2009 – Emmanuel Adebayor runs the entire length of the pitch to celebrate in front of his old supporters in Man City’s 4-2 win
5 2010 – Sol Campbell returns to the club, plays a dodgy back pass and the referee stands in his way so Porto can score
6 2010 – Arsenal have £2m bid rejected for Mark Schwarzer to replace Manuel Almunia. They then bid £2m again despite Fulham wanting £5m.
7 2011 – Lose the League Cup final in the 89th minute to Birmingham City
8 2011 – Arsenal go in front against Liverpool in 98th minute, Eboue then concedes penalty in 104th minute. Ends up 1-1 draw
9 2011 – Lose 8-2 at Old Trafford boasting a side featuring Ignasi Miquel and Emmanuel Frimpong
10 2011 – Sign Andre Santos and Chu Yung Park on Transfer Deadline Day
11 2012 – Gervinho misses THIS chance as they crash out of the League Cup at League Two Bradford City
⚽Liverpool v Arsenal betting tip: Liverpool to win, 11/10⚽
LIVERPOOL always save their best for the top six.
In a mini league with Spurs, Arsenal, Man United, Man City and Chelsea, Liverpool picked up the most points last term – double that of Arsenal. This game will suit Jurgen Klopp and 11/10 for a home win is far too good to resist.
