Spurs’ relative inactivity in the transfer window has irked fans for weeks.
Tensions were somewhat relieved at the news the north London club are almost certainly going to sign Davinson Sanchez from Ajax in the next two days.
But fans have been fully triggered by Spurs’ first official signing of the summer.
Why it’s none other than Paulo Gazzaniga of course.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper has signed from Mauricio Pochettino’s old club, Southampton, and has penned a contract until 2022.
Those of you scratching your head are justified.
Gazzaniga has only played 21 league games for the Saints in four seasons having started his professional career with Gillingham.
The Argentine keeper spent last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano in the second tier of Spanish football.
Replies to the club’s announcement tweet were typically entertaining…
Gazzaniga is expected to play back-up to captain Hugo Lloris and second-choice keeper Michel Vorm.
In his 21 league games for Southampton he made six errors that directly led to goals and kept only two clean sheets.
The soon you announce Sanchez the better, lads…

- ADD TO BETSLIP: Tuchel next Chelsea boss, 6/4
“Last night he was 14/1 to be the next Prem boss to go – now our traders have been forced to slash him to just 6/4.”
“And with Thomas Tuchel hovering that price will only go one way.”
