Arsenal star set for £35m move to London rivals

The Ox has reportedly rejected Arsene Wenger's £125,000-a-week offer and told him money is not his main motivation

CHELSEA are set to make a fresh £35million offer for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain after the winger reportedly told Arsenal he is determined to leave.

The Ox has just a year left on his current deal and has been offered fresh terms on what is believed to be a four-year deal.

But, according to the Mirror, Ox has told Arsene Wenger that he will not sign a new contract.

The England star is said to have made it clear that it is not about the money, with an offer of £125,000 a week thought to have been tabled.

Ox is already thought to have snubbed an offer of £100,000 a week from Emirates chiefs.

And Blues are set to pounce by testing the Gunners’ resolve over a player who has now twice turned down contract offers.

Antonio Conte has made the former Southampton man, 24, one of his main targets.

And Ox is understood to be tempted by a switch across the capital to the Blues.

The Ox is just one of a number of stars in the last year of their contracts at the club.

Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have still to be convinced to sign an extension.

Manchester City are still lining up a swoop to tempt Arsenal to cash in on Sanchez this transfer window, rather than losing him for free next summer.

And the same report today claims that £70m is the price that could tempt Wenger to do a deal – although he fears a fan backlash.

The Frenchman has previously stood firm on Sanchez and insisted that the Chile ace is going nowhere this season.

After defeating Leicester City in a 4-3 thriller in their opener, Wenger’s side suffered a miserable 1-0 setback at Stoke on Saturday.
