So long, Samir

Forgotten man Samir Nasri finally leaves Man City for the bright lights of Turkish side Antalyaspor

He joins a few familiar faces at his new club

After six years, 176 appearances and two Premier League titles – Samir Nasri has finally left Manchester City.

The former Arsenal man has departed Pep Guardiola’s side for Turkish Super Lig club Antalyaspor (to you and me, that’s the one that Samuel Eto’o plays for. Yes, that’s right, he’s still knocking about too).

The Frenchman has hardly played for City since the 2014–15 season, having spent the last campaign on loan with Spanish club Sevilla, where he made 30 appearances and scored three goals.

Quite frankly, we completely forgot about his existence, albeit that weird blood doping scandal in January.

City have been pretty desperate to sell Nasri for quite some time, but that didn’t stop them including the 30-year-old as part of their pre-season squad for their tour of America over the summer.

He even played against the likes of Real Madrid and United in a not-so-local derby.

A host of clubs were reportedly linked with the former France international, although the likes of Marseille, Nice and Roma were either unwilling to pay up for the winger, or pay his wages.

Nasri joins Antalyaspor along with some stars you may have forgotten about, including former Spurs and QPR midfielder Sandro, the fairly-decent-once-upon-a-time Jeremy Menez and of course the ex-Barcelona, Inter and Chelsea striker Eto’o.

If the year was 2008, then this would be one tasty side.
