Patrick Roberts will return to Celtic for the rest of the season – with the Manchester City star’s loan move set to be rubber stamped early next week.
SunSport revealed this month how Roberts, 20, planned to tell Etihad chiefs he wanted a second spell with the Hoops.
And we can reveal his wish has been granted after talks between City, Celtic and his representatives.
An agreement has been reached that will see the Scottish champions pay a substantial loan fee and a hefty chunk of his wages.
The news – which will thrill Bhoys fans and boss Brendan Rodgers – brings an end to a long-running transfer saga with City that began when the ex-Fulham starlet returned south after the Scottish Cup Final against Aberdeen.
His performances in the treble-winning campaign earned him hero status among the Parkhead faithful, with some fans calling for him to be given Celtic’s famous No7 jersey.
Roberts scored 17 goals and helped the club win two league titles, one Scottish Cup and a League Cup, last season.
The Englishman featured in City’s US tour this summer, starting for Pep Guardiola’s men against Manchester United in Houston.
⚽IAN WRIGHT: Man City v Everton betting preview⚽

By Ian Wright
WOW. What a game this should be.
Everton have spent well this summer and will give City a really tough time at the Etihad.
The difference between the sides though will be up top. The Toffees have failed to adequately replace Lukaku, while the Citizens boast Aguero and Jesus who I believe will both score. Get on City to win 2-0 at 11/2.

But talk of a Celtic return refused to go away and it intensified after he was left out of the Premier League club’s opening day squad to face Brighton.
Guardiola has been desperate to bolster his rocky defence this summer and are eyeing West Brom defender Johnny Evans.
And his Champions League experience is key for Guardiola as he looks to mount a serious charge for Europe’s premier competition.
City have already had a £18 million bid rejected by the Baggies during the transfer window.
But City are set to return to the table after the weekend with a new offer, according to the Daily Mail.
