From Besiktas to Roma, clubs across the continent have adopted weird and wacky social media formats to unveiling their newest players.

And some of them, let’s be honest, have been downright appalling.

But kudos have to go to Stoke, who have not only announced the capture of Jese Rodriguez from PSG but also simultaneously trolled West Ham and Marko Arnautovic in the process.

Hooked around the strap line of ‘ambition’, something Arnautovic claimed West Ham possessed more of than his former club after completing a £23m move this summer, their tweet pokes fun at the east Londoners and the Austrian midfielder:

Jese continues the theme of Stoke attracting former wonderkids with genuine Champions League pedigree to the Potteries in recent years.

In fact, the arrival of the Spanish winger on loan means Mark Hughes’ side now boast five European Cup winners in their ranks – more than any other Premier League side.

Jese was tipped for the top at Real Madrid, but a horrific knee injury curtailed his career and spells at PSG and Las Palmas have so far failed to reignite it.

But, like Bojan and Xherdan Shaqiri, the Potteries offers a fresh chance to fulfil his potential.

Of course this tweet could really backfire and provide the social media trolls with real ammunition if Stoke flop this season.
