Footballers and social media clangers are a pretty regular occurrence in modern times.
But this blunder really has raised a few eyebrows.
Alexis Sanchez has caused a stir on Sunday by taking to Twitter to seemingly post a harmless message to the singer Richard Marx:
But eagle-eyed fans have spotted a deeper-rooted issue that, given the uncertainty around his future, could indicate where he’s playing his football next season.
His tweet came from Paris.
Now given that Sanchez is being heavily linked with PSG, nervous Arsenal fans instantly put two and two together.
The Chilean has less than a year left on his current contract and, despite the offer of a new deal that would make him the best paid player in the Premier League, he has no intention of signing an extension.
And after his followers were quick to question why indeed the tweet came from the French capital, he hastily removed its location and re-uploaded the same message:
Both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have left Arsenal in a difficult situation this summer with neither star player seemingly willing to commit to the club.
So has this just hinted that Sanchez’s Gunners career might be over sooner rather than later?
Or are we reading into his shifty Twitter activity a little more than we should be?
