He came, he saw, he played eight times in the Premier League without scoring and then left.
We are, of course, talking about Clinton N’Jie, who spent a fairly forgettable two years at Spurs.
The 23-year-old, who joined Marseille on a permanent deal having spent last season on loan in France, has wasted little time in showing Spurs what they didn’t even realise they were missing.
N’Jie scored twice in Marseille’s 3-0 win against Dijon in Les Olympiens’ first game of their Ligue 1 campaign.
His performance earned him a rating of eight out of ten from the notoriously harsh L’Equipe, and a spot in their team of the week.
That just so happens to make N’Jie the highest rated player in France at the moment.
He’s also the joint top scorer in Ligue 1, ahead of Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao and Kylian Mbappe.
Are we getting carried away? Of course we are.
Can we help ourselves? Nope, we’re just far too excited that the football season is back up and running again.
