Harry Kane has played down Antonio Conte’s high praise

Conte had been desperately seeking a new striker this month, finally landing former Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata for a club-record £65million fee.

But even so, he was full of praise for Kane when he said: “For me, Kane, now is one of the best strikers in the world.

“If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. He is a complete striker.”

As you’d expect, the Golden Boot winner was flattered by Conte’s interest, but confirmed his unwavering loyalty to Spurs.

Kane said: “Obviously it’s kind words.

“But I’m focused on my team now and what my manager thinks.

“I’m out here concentrating on what I need to do, and being fit for the new season.”
