Arsenal fans lose it after Bollywood actress Esha Gupta ‘reveals new signing’

The Bollywood actress said on Arsenal's Instagram live that the club were close to a new signing

Football clubs this summer have been thinking up the most creative and inventive ways to announce their new signings.

But we think getting a Bollywood actress to accidentally let slip on an Instagram Live that the club were closing in one a new player might be a bit too far.

Earlier this week Arsenal invited actress Esha Gupta to unveil their second kit, and as part of the promotion she was also invited to take part in an Instagram Live during Arsenal’s Emirates Cup weekend.

During the Live broadcast, Gupta apparently let slip that there was going to be a new arrival at the club very soon.

She said: “I’m not sure if I should say the name but we are signing another player and I’m sure the boss is gonna do well this time.”

Needless to say, the news travelled quickly and fans started to do one of two things – lose their minds, or question how she could possibly know such confidential information.

We’re not entirely convinced right now, but given the way this transfer window has gone, we also wouldn’t be surprised if it was Arsenal’s unique way of doing their own quirky announcement video.

Nor should we be too surprised by Arsenal doing things differently – after all, ex-Eastenders actor Martin Kemp announced Alexis Sanchez’s arrival four days before it was confirmed back in 2014…

Some even went as far as to say Gupta could be the new David Ornstein, which is about as high praise as you can get from Arsenal supporters.
