Manchester United’s desire to buy a new right back may have intensified after their defeat to Barcelona in the International Champions Cup.
The Red Devils went down 1-0 to the Spanish giants in Maryland, suffering the first loss of their American tour in their final game.
And, unfortunately for him, Antonio Valencia was horribly at fault for Neymar’s winner.
Valencia was one of United’s most consistent performers last season as they won the League Cup, Europa League and qualified for the Champions League in Jose Mourinho’s debut season in charge.
But the Ecuadorian highlighted why Mourinho is in the market for a new right back when his costly stutter and slip allowed Neymar to fire past David De Gea in the first half:
United have been heavily linked with the likes of PSG Serge Aurier and Monaco utility man Fabinho this summer as the Special One looks to bring in defensive reinforcements.
And Valencia’s blunder might give Mourinho further encouragement to dip into the market.
As for Neymar, he didn’t exactly play like a player who is looking to force a move to PSG, did he?
