ANTONIO CONTE is reportedly expecting the arrival of a new signing in the next few days.
He is happy with the four new additions he has already signed but isn’t ready to curb the spending just yet.
The Italian believes his current squad isn’t strong enough for a credible title defence and needs reinforcements by the way of new signings, according to Yahoo.
He has said they need to make a lot of changes this season and bring in top players despite winning the title last season by only regularly utilising 13 players.
But Conte is now feeling the heat with rivals including Man City and Man United bulking up and splashing their cash.
The Premier League champions’ manager said changes to his team are “more of a necessity” as they challenge for four trophies next season.
So far this summer Chelsea have spent £140 million for new signings Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Willy Caballero and Antonio Rudiger.
But with Diego Costa all but out the door Conte is urging the Blues chiefs to keep spending.
Conte’s priority is for wide players and he has targeted Juventus’ Alex Sandro after losing out to Man City in the race for Danilo’s signature.
However, to add to Conte’s frustration a bid of £61 million was rejected and it looks increasingly likely that Sandro will stay put.
Another option could be Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Chelsea are set to go head-to-head again with Man City in his pursuit.
