If and when it goes through it’ll be the deal of the century.
Neymar’s proposed move to PSG this summer is reportedly edging closer and closer – and the numbers behind it are truly mind boggling.
Reports in Spain claim the Brazil maestro has grown more and more disillusioned with Barcelona and has admitted he needs a change of scenery if he is going to come out from behind Lionel Messi’s shadow.
Messi himself dropped a huge hint overnight that something wasn’t right in the Barca camp when he supposedly deleted every photo of Neymar from his Instagram page.
And, being Neymar, it’ll inevitably take a pretty hefty sum for the Catalans to part with one of their prized assets.
The forward has a £196m release clause – which PSG are more than happy to trigger – which would more than double the previous world transfer record.

That was set last summer when Manchester United re-signed Paul Pogba from Juventus for just the £89m.
But Marca have also revealed how acquiring Neymar is only half of the financial equation, because his wages are almost as astronomical.
The Spanish news outlet claims that they’re ready to pay the 25-year-old £500k a week over six years, meaning they’ll fork out £156m in wages alone:
That takes the total cost of the deal to an eye-popping £352m.
Should the move go through as suggested, it would surpass all previous deals this summer in what has already been a ludicrously expensive transfer window.
Romelu Lukaku is currently the biggest deal to go through after his £75m move to Manchester United, while Alvaro Morata’s £60m switch to Chelsea isn’t far behind.
What could Morata bring to fantasy football?
- 15 goals and four assists from just 14 La Liga starts last season
- 20 goals in all competitions
- WhoScored rating of 7.17 – better than Sergio Ramos and and Karim Benzema
