TOTTENHAM boss Mauricio Pochettino is chasing Paris Saint-Germain star Serge Aurier, according to reports in France.
The Ivorian defender, 24, is unsettled at the French giants, while the club are looking to balance the books.
The Ligue 1 club are hoping to conclude mega-money deals for Barcelona forward Neymar at £195million, as well as launching a £45m bid for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.
Meanwhile, Spurs have £50m in their back pocket after selling star full-back Kyle Walker to Manchester City.
Now Poch and Co have entered the race to land Aurier – who is also wanted by Manchester United, Inter Milan and Juventus this summer.
Aurier is under contract in France until 2019, but are open to selling him.
The transfer fee expected from PSG is around the £20m to £25m mark at this stage – however, a bidding war could drive that figure up.
The only issue at present for Pochettino and Spurs are the wages the Ivorian is hoping to command – at over £100,000-a-week.
Tottenham have always been apprehensive to dish out six-figure wages, with only three players on the books taking home that fee.
Those men are star trio Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane.
Aurier has something of a reputation for being the “bad-boy” of French football, once goading the crowd with a bizarre throat-slitting gesture.
