David Ospina attempts to decapitate Pedro in pre-season friendly

Wherever, whenever, Arsenal v Chelsea is always a tasty fixture

Arsenal v Chelsea is one of those not-so-friendly friendlies.

The Premier League rivals went to battle at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in China.

And it didn’t take long before some serious competitiveness reared its head.

Pedro sat up with blood clearly dripping from his head after the incident

SPOILER ALERT: Pedro gets battered

Midway through the first half, Antonio Conte was forced to take Pedro off after the Spanish forward was taken out by David Ospina.

The Gunners keeper clattered into Pedro when punching clear a cross.

Take a look…

Thankfully, Ospina’s clenched fists avoided significant contact with Pedro’s head but the impact was enough to draw blood from the former Barcelona man.

After lengthy treatment on the pitch, Pedro walked off the pitch and was replaced by 20-year-old Jeremie Boga.

Despite the unplanned switch, Chelsea dominated the first half, scoring twice before the break.

First Willian placed a side-foot finish into the bottom corner from just inside the box…

Then Michy Batshuayi curled a beautiful left-foot finish past Per Mertesacker and Ospina from the edge of the box to double the lead.

The Belgian will provide Alvaro Morata with competition for the primary forward spot at Stamford Bridge this season.

Arsenal’s best chance fell to Aaron Ramsey but Thiabut Courtois saved the Welshman’s volley from a tight angle.

It’s only a friendly of course. Not that Pedro knows it.
