Marcus Rashford pays touching tribute to Wayne Rooney after move to Everton

The Man United striker posted a message on social media to the former Red Devils legend

Wayne Rooney’s departure from Manchester United is the footballing equivalent to riding off into the sunset.

The all-time England record goalscorer has returned to his roots and signed for Everton, where he started his career.

But after an illustrious 13 years at the Red Devils, it will come of little surprise that the tributes paid to him have been wide-reaching.

And one of the most touching has come from Marcus Rashford, who would have been just starting primary school when Rooney made his debut for United.

With Rashford set to continue his fledgling career this season for Jose Mourinho’s side, he was quick to give Rooney his dues, by posting this on Twitter.

All together now… awwwww.

Rashford broke onto the scene two seasons ago, and has been helped by Rooney in his development early on in his career, which has seen him become one of the brightest homegrown talents in recent years.

Unsurprisingly, people were quick to notice the parallels between the young talents who made a sudden burst onto the scene, and encouraged Rashford to now take his chance and fill the void left by Rooney.

We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait for the start of next season.
