REAL MADRID have reportedly beaten rivals Barcelona to the signing of Dani Ceballos.
Zinedine Zidane’s side have secured a deal worth 18 million Euro with Real Betis for the highly talented midfielder.
Spanish outlet Marca have reported that Real will announce the deal on Monday ahead of a medical along with the 20-year-old putting pen to paper on a six-year contract with the club.
Ceballos first joined Sevilla’s youth side at the age of eight, but was released after five years due to chronic bronchitis problems.
But Ceballos has fought back after being dumped by Sevilla as a youngster.
His impressive season in La Liga and the Europa League for Betis has caused him to be in high demand.
He was being tracked by a host of clubs including La Liga side Atletico Madrid and Serie A giants Juventus.
However Ceballos was attracting attention long before Euro 2017 as he was linked with Liverpool and Arsenal back in 2015.
Ceballos is already scheduled to join Zinedine Zidane with the Madrid squad on their pre-season tour on July 20, where he will fly to San Francisco with team-mates Marco Asensio and Jesus Vallejo.
It was Ceballos 15 million Euro release clause that set various clubs on high alert, sparking a bidding war between the sides.
The former Sevilla academy product was wanted at Barcelona but the club have been frozen out of making any deal.
Barcelona will once again have to go back to the drawing board to find alternatives in the transfer market after also failing to bring Hector Bellerin and Marco Verratti to the Nou Camp.
