We might get to see another Zidane playing for Real Madrid this summer.
Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is set to give son Luca (who opted to be a goalkeeper, which is weird) a run in Real’s first-team during their pre-season tour.
This is the second time Zidane has turned to his family during his tenure as manager, having given his other son Enzo a go in the first team last season before selling him to Alaves last month.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Luca will enter the fold with current back-up goalie Ruben Yanez set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu very soon.
Meanwhile, Keylor Navas is expected to retain the No 1 role for the time being despite Real’s links to Manchester United star David De Gea and Chelsea ace Thibaut Courtois.
Kiko Casilla will continue to serve as Navas’ understudy, leaving Luca Zidane to claim the third-choice role.
He is set to be included in the upcoming pre-season tour, but the report adds Castilla’s Alex Craninx could yet get the nod after some impressive performances for Real’s B team.
It’s been a fairly quiet transfer window for the Champions League holders so far, with Atletico Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez the only new arrival.
A deal worth nearly £40million for Vinicius Junior has been agreed, but the teenage sensation will remain with Brazilian side Flamengo for at least one more season before moving to the Spanish capital.
Meanwhile, Fabio Coentrao has joined Sporting Lisbon on loan, with compatriot Pepe signing for Besiktas after seeing his contract expire.
Young duo Diego Llorente and Mariano Diaz have been sold to Real Sociedad and Lyon respectively.
But youngsters including Marcos Llorente and Jesus Vallejo look set to be handed senior roles for the new campaign as Real aim to successfully defend their domestic and European titles.
