REVEALED: The reason Barcelona are absolutely livid with club legend Carles Puyol

The legendary centre-back has encouraged a promising young star to leave Barcelona and join Man City

Carles Puyol is a certified Barcelona legend.

The shaggy-haired centre-back was, is and will forever be a fan favourite in Catalonia for his lion-hearted performances that complemented the traditional flair players that occupy the forward positions at the Nou Camp.

So why are the club absolutely fuming with him?

In the doghouse…

In the doghouse…

Well, Puyol has set up an agency with former Espanyol midfielder Ivan de la Pena and one of the players they represent is 16-year-old Eric Garcia.

The young defender is considered to be one of the most promising talents at Barcelona’s La Masia academy.

However, despite the fact Garcia has been tipped for a successful career, he has decided to leave Barcelona and join Man City.

The La Liga giants are said to be infuriated by the decision and are angry with Puyol for his role in the switch.

You used to be cool, Carles

The Independent are reporting that another of Puyol’s clients, Carles Alena, is set to follow Garcia out of La Masia’s door with a move to Spurs imminent.

Naturally, Barcelona aren’t best pleased that one of their own is encouraging the club’s gifted youngsters to pursue careers elsewhere but Puyol surely believes he’s acting in his clients’ best interests.

Cesc Fabregas famously jumped ship in favour of Arsenal only for Barcelona to sign him for €35m eight years later.

And now a similar situation looks set to take place with Hector Bellerin.

Mauro Icardi and Balde Keita hsve both proven themselves in Serie A after leaving Barcelona without an appearance for the first team.

It’ll take more than a few departing kids to tarnish Puyol’s shining legacy at Barcelona but if he keeps exporting the next Lionel Messis, Xavis and Andres Iniestas then some fans may turn against their idol.
