A statue of Luis Suarez was knocked over by vandals back in the Barcelona star’s home country of Uruguay.
The 30-year-old was in Argentina at the time as a guest at team-mate Lionel Messi’s wedding.
And it appears the occasion was the reason for the act of vandalism with the culprit leaving a telling note behind…
Reports suggest that just like the real Suarez, the statue went to ground easily with minimal contact.
The statue resides in the city of Salto and locals were quick to share photos of the monument laid prone online.
According to reports in the local media, the individual responsible has now been arrested.
The tribute to Suarez was unveiled in July last year.
It had stood on the corner of one of Salto’s busiest streets.
The statue has now been taken away to be refurbished.
Suarez was reduced to tears just over a week ago as he returned to his first club, Nacional.
His former employers are naming a pitch after him and the touching tribute proved a bit too much for prolific forward.
