Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain reportedly set to REJECT new Arsenal contract amid Liverpool interest

Arsenal have been rocked by the news Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to reject a new contract offer at the club.

The England midfielder has just one year remaining on his current deal at the Emirates and is reportedly prepared to see it out and leave for free next summer.

The Times claim that Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is a target for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, was offered an extension but believes his future lies elsewhere.

Arsenal are currently engulfed in a number of potential ins and outs at the club, with Alexandre Lacazette poised for a club-record move from Lyon but Alexis Sanchez’s future also a major doubt.

What could Alexandre Lacazette offer on Dream Team?

  • Highest perfoming player (7.57) in France last season
  • 28 league goals in as many appearances for Lyon
  • 61 points on Dream Team Europe after helping Lyon reach the semi-finals of the Europa League

Oxlade-Chamberlain started 16 Premier League games last season in a number of different positions, including as a buccaneering right-wing back in the closing weeks of the campaign.

Liverpool stepped up their interest in the player this week but had a proposal rejected by Arsene Wenger.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, though, is believed to be intrigued by the prospect of a move to Anfield with Klopp’s side back in the Champions League for the first time in two seasons.

The futures of Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud also remain very much unsolved, with the latter being linked with Everton, West Ham and Marseille.

When can I sign up to Dream Team?

You can start getting your teams in as early as July 7 2017 – some five weeks before the Premier League season gets underway.

That gives you an awfully long time to monitor the transfer market and choose your team accordingly, with Bernardo Silva the first major coup of the summer after his £43m move to Manchester City.
