Liverpool prepared to DOUBLE current transfer record fee for Bundesliga star Naby Keita

The Reds are reportedly willing to pay a whopping £70m for the RB Leipzig midfielder

It’s funny to think that in this day and age of extortionate transfer fees, Andy Carroll remains Liverpool’s record signing.

But that might all be about to change.

That’s because, according to The Times, the Reds are ready to banish the nightmare of Carroll’s spell at Anfield by bringing RB Leipzig star Naby Keita to Merseyside.

The reports claim that Liverpool are prepared to not only beat their record signing but double it with a £70m bid to land their number one priority target this summer.

The Bundesliga side, who qualified for the Champions League this season, remain adamant their prized asset will not be sold under any circumstances this summer.

But Keita has given Jurgen Klopp hope in recent days after reportedly indicating he is seeking pastures new.

The 22-year-old played 31 times for Leipzig in the Bundesliga last season, scoring eight times and assisting another seven for his team-mates as he helped them to a shock second-placed finish.

Klopp has already signed Mohamed Salah this summer for £34m and brought in Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke.

What could Keita bring to your fantasy football team?

Keita is essentially the Bundesliga’s answer to N’Golo Kante – but with a serious end product.

According to WhoScored, Dream Team’s ratings providers, only four players outperformed Keita in the German top flight last season – Thiago Alcantara, Arjen Robben, Emil Forsberg and Robert Lewandowski.

He earned a rating of 7.60 which would also have put him fifth in the Premier League WhoScored player rankings last season and made him Liverpool’s highest rated player, just ahead of Philippe Coutinho (7.58).

The likes of N’Golo Kante and Giorginio Wijnaldum are expected to be priced around £4.5m on the Dream Team game this season, so we estimate that Keita will be valued in a similar region.
