Arturo Vidal is not a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The hot-headed Bayern Munich midfielder has ignited the touch paper ahead of Chile and Portugal’s Confederations Cup semi-final by publicly slamming the Euro 2016 winners’ star player.
Speaking to reporters in Russia, Vidal said: “Cristiano is a smart ass! For me he does not exist.”
“I have already told my Bayern Munich team-mate Joshua Kimmich that we will meet in the final!”
Punchy words.
There’s nothing wrong with his positive mental attitude in believing Chile will face Kimmich’s Germany on Sunday but as for him not believing in Ronaldo’s existence…
The Real Madrid superstar literally scored five goals over two legs against Vidal’s Bayern in the Champions League quarter-finals.
If Ronaldo doesn’t exist to Vidal then the mohawked 30-year-old must have repressed the memory in record time.
Back-to-back Copa America winners Chile face European conquerors Portugal in Kazan on Thursday in what promises to be a fairly even contest.
Man City new boy Bernardo Silva may miss out after hurting his ankle in the act of scoring against New Zealand in the group stages.
However, an ultra-motivated Ronaldo may be hard for Juan Pizzi’s men to contain.
Will Vidal regret his comments?
